FAQs

Can I use the X-Sense XP0A-MR without a base station?

Yes, for a more straightforward setup that does not require app integration, the XP0A-MR can directly interconnect with up to 24 X-Sense Link+ series Smoke and CO Alarms. This allows for robust protection without the complexity of a base station, ideal for users who prefer a simpler system.

What are the main differences between the XP0A-MR and the XP0A-SR models?

The main differences between these two models lie in their connectivity options and functionality: ● Connectivity: XP0A-MR supports interlinking with other devices and can connect to a Base Station for Wi-Fi features, while XP0A-SR does not support these capabilities. ● Voice Alerts: XP0A-MR offers voice alerts with location reporting, enhancing response efficiency during emergencies. The XP0A-SR lacks this feature.

Which model should I choose between XP0A-MR and XP0A-SR?

The choice between XP0A-MR and XP0A-SR should be based on your specific needs. If you require a modern system with the ability to connect multiple devices, provide location-specific alerts, and offer remote monitoring through Wi-Fi, the XP0A-MR would be the more suitable option. If you only need basic smoke and CO detection without the need for connectivity or remote monitoring, the XP0A-SR would suffice.

How many alarms can I link with the XP0A-MR?

Without a base station, you can link up to 24 Link+ alarms(including XP0A-MR, XS01-M, XS01-WR and XC01-WR). With a base station, you can link up to 50 Link+ Pro alarms(including all alarms that are compatible with the base station)

surprised at how test mode works

really surprised when yolu hit the test button that it doesnt show you they work like they work when there is a fire. Only way to tell if it really works is to hold smoke near it

Could Be Much Better

The voiced location feature could be great, but it is half-baked:

1) There is no "smoke detected in the XXX" alert before the alarm sirens start. Once the sirens start the location is very hard to hear amidst the blaring. The alarms aren't synchronized & don't allow a "space" for the location alert.

2) You are given fixed set of options for locations and they aren't well thought out. For example, you're only allowed three choices for bedrooms: Master, Guest, Kid's - if you have more than one child and they don't sleep in the same room, the alarm say "Smoke in the kid's room" and you have no idea which one -- it's even worse if they are not on the same floor. It seems like with an internet connection & an app being able to choose names that work in your home would be quite easy to implement. It's a shame they didn't do that.

On top of this, the alarm won't allow you to silence it if it decides there is too much smoke (which in our house is two slices of overdone toast). I'd venture a guess that most alarms are false alarms due to mistakes in the kitchen -- so most of the time this is just a nuisance. But it could be a serious hazard in an actual fire. Imagine having pets or kids whose response to the sirens is to hide, or just needing some quiet to communicate and make a plan. Now instead of helping your family to evacuate the alarms are actually making it more difficult. It seems like a good compromise would be to have the silence button stop the sirens, but continue to announce in a calm voice "smoke detected in the XXX".

The alarm without warning, and no easy way to cancel the alarm means that the "automatically call the fire department" feature seems like a problem rather than a benefit. Especially if they really relay the alarm within seconds & your fire department charges for false alarms.

I'm glad that the our false alarm happened early so that we can take advantage of the 60-day money back guarantee.

XPOA-MR Smart Alarms

Only had the alarms for a couple of weeks now, but my initial thoughts are that they were easy enough to set up through the app and tested. All seemed to be functioning properly and triggered properly. I had the nest protect before but now nest no longer produces the protect had to go with something different but still wanted the “smart” feature. Not a lot of options and a lot of reviews of false alerts from other brands. Haven’t been an issue with these so far!

Priced Well Works Great.

I need to replace my old Nest protect after 10 years, another great product, but the price was just too much for me to replace with a new one. I saw the XSeries and after reading other reviews bought this one. Really impressed, and for the price it came with 3 co2 smoke combos. Really easy to set up. The app walks you through it. The only issue I had with set up was when pairing the unit to the base, I used the app instructions set the location and proceeded, but when I got to the pairing it asked me for location again, and I had to go back, not a big deal. Beyond that it was super easy to set up and connect all the units. I even bought the smoke only dectors to go with this, they also paired very easily. Also installing is a breeze, just use a big enough drill bit for the holes if you need the plastic fastiners that come with the screws. If you need a new Co2 smoke combo highly recommend this one.

Excellent product!

Excellent product! Had some trouble getting the alarms to connect up to the base station, but after doing a software update on the base station then they connected no problem. Limited room names, but made it work. Would of like to customize the room names, but that did not work for me.
