3. Electrical Safety:

• Are electrical cords in good condition and not frayed?
• Are electrical cords placed in areas where they won't be damaged?
• Are electrical outlets not overloaded with plugs?
• Are electrical outlets and switches in good condition and not damaged?

4. Heating Safety:

• Is the furnace/boiler properly maintained and serviced annually?
• Are there any flammable items (curtains, papers, etc.) placed near the furnace/boiler?
• Are space heaters placed away from flammable items and not left unattended?
• Are chimney flues and vents properly cleaned and inspected annually?

5. Cooking Safety:

• Are cooking appliances and surfaces clean and free from grease?
• Are pots and pans placed on the stove with handles facing inwards?
• Are flammable items (oven mitts, dish towels, etc.) kept away from the stove while cooking?
• Are ovens and stovetops turned off after cooking?

6. Escape Plan:

• Does the home have an escape plan in case of a fire?
• Is the escape plan reviewed and practiced with family members?
• Are all windows and doors in the home easily opened from the inside?
• Is there a designated meeting place outside the home in case of a fire?
